David BelfordDavid Belford’s passion for cars started at an early age. From his earliest memory he was playing with toy Porsche’s and toy race cars. His teenage years were no different with his bedroom walls plastered with pictures of exotic European sports cars.
A strong interest in vehicle design and engineering led David to start a university degree in Mechanical Engineering.
However, a small off in an Mk1 GT Escort took David to a local restoration workshop. Due to a lack of funds David offered to do the labour to repair the car to reduce the cost of the bill. The owner of the business agreed and David loved getting hands on. He deferred his Uni degree and never went back. David was offered and apprenticeship and set about learning the old world techniques of vintage body building. At the same time indulging an insatiable desire to research the history of motor sport and the development of vehicle technology
After finishing his apprenticeship his work led him to manage a crash repair business which he soon purchased and developed over a six year period, in this time, restoring many classic 356 and 911 cars as well as the core business of repairing crashed vehicles.
Having this business also allowed him to develop his interest in historic motor sport, and ultimately to build and compete in his own race car. David subsequently made many contacts in historic circles and looked after other peoples cars.
David competes in historic races and holds circuit and rally licenses.
