We bought this car from South Australia, were it had been set up and used for club sprints. It had IROC style bumpers and was missing most of its interior, but it had potential. It had a very straight body and although having had a respray in Guards red, some investigation showed it was a numbers matching Euro spec 2.7 Carrera originally delivered in the Stunning Orange colour. We also found out it was built in 1973 and was a very early delivery to Sydney’s John Newell Motor’s with John being the first registered owner.
First step was to get some original bumpers on the car so we could race it in the historic sports car class. We sourced some original bars and painted them to match the existing Guards red. After having some fun with the car for twelve months the restorer bug (and that bright Orange bug ) got the better of us and we decided to return the car to it’s original spec. It has now retuned to being a very fast and well set up road car.
